Meditation
Increases Brain Function and Health
Our data indicate that regular practice of meditation is associated with increased thickness in a subset of cortical regions related to somatosensory, auditory, visual and interoceptive processing. Further, regular meditation practice may slow age-related thinning of the frontal cortex. -2005 study, Neuroreport
Qiqong
Increases Heart and Circulatory Health
Seven studies on Qigong reported favorable cardiovascular and/or pulmonary outcomes. One of the most consistent findings was the significant reduction in blood pressure. Other indicators of cardiac health have been evaluated. Reduced heart rate is reported as well as increases in heart rate variability. -2010 study, American Journal of Health Promotion
